About Us

Siyoyisile Indlala Community Farm and Projects, situated at Faranani Primary School in Protea Glen, is a poverty alleviation program committed to empowering impoverished community members through skill-building initiatives and material support. Utilizing mixed farming techniques, the organization grows a variety of vegetables and raises livestock while employing innovative "deep trenching" methods for organic waste decomposition, resulting in nutrient-rich soil fertilizer. Siyoyisile Indlala Farm sells the harvested produce within the community, feeding both training participants and farm workers, and also produces Concentrated Liquid Fertilizer (CLF) from organic waste for sale to nearby farms.

The organization enhance its operations by focusing on training, upskilling, waste and water management efficiency, and exploring innovative agricultural practices. They have established an agricultural school to provide essential skills and certification for individuals interested in pursuing opportunities in agriculture. In the near future we aim to improved compost production technologies, research into the chemical composition of CLFs, and the implementation of short learning courses such as Agri-preneurship, Composting, and Introduction to Biogas.

The organization has also made huge strides towards driving sustainable agricultural practices for community farming in the country. In terms of waste management, the farm leverages on food wastes and animal excretions as manure for organic farming. In terms of research and innovation, the farm is investigating the extraction of concentrated liquid fertilizers (CLF) from various wastes.
